Overclocking Success

#1 Post by erode » Mon Aug 16, 2004 9:38 pm

Hi and excuse my first post. Very curious about o/cing my t42 with a 1.6G CPU. Temp shows there's loadsa legroom for a higher clock but couldn't find the right PLL/clock generator for the Intel 855PM chipset.

This guy seemed to have some success: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... erclocking

But he won't respond to how he did it.

Anybody hsa the know how?

Thanks in advance.

p.s. your warning remarks about how frying a laptop is not wise etc is appreciated and need not be repeated. TIA.

Ive used Softfsb long ago. It will work just as he posts but the settings wont stay. A permanent OC on a thinkpad would take a bit more coding on SoftFSB.

I used to overclock everything. If it was possible, i'd try to oc my printer, but i dont do i much anymore. The performance gain arent what they used to be.

Been trying out CPUFSB but couldn't get the FSB to read right. These guys did manage to push a 1.7G beyond 2G, and managed to run a 2G Dothan to 2.4G, which ended up faster than a P4 3.4EE in most tests: http://www.x86-secret.com/articles/cpu/ ... than-6.htm

However they did this on an ASUS notepad which had the ICS950815 generator. I couldn't see what's on my T42 as I didn't wanna go beyond taking the keyboard off.

Any ideas?
