According to the Tabook the T42 has
a Magnesium alloy top cover and carbon fiber
reinforced plastic bottom cover. The T41 has
the titanium-reinforced CFRP bottom. The
question is how accurate is the tabook?

From a previous post...............(not mine)

Titanium composite has the best absolute strength against impact and flexing when compared to ABS plastic and Magnesium alloy.

However, Magnesium alloy has the greatest strength per unit mass. In terms of absolute strength it is stronger than ABS pastic but weaker than Titanium composite.

Why does the Magnesium Alloy (which is a metal) cover look, feel, and sound (if you tap your fingernails on it) like plastic??

It's coated with plastic, which, if scraped off, will reveal the shiny metal interior. The plastic coating dramatically affects the feeling so the entire thing feels like plastic.
