Why would you even want to downgrade? You have a better computer WITH a better GFX card.

Is the fan getting to you in the t43. I have the T42 and i can only hear the fan sometimes... if it is the fans why dont you use some fan control to lower the volume of the fan. i got the 7500 and its pretty crappy. i would stick with the x300 if i were you..

The 7500 is almost 6 years old. The X300 is much much better.

well,
yeah, sometimes i don't understand myself too, just because of the fan noise and making me fed up of that.
i am using RMclock and TP fan control,
well, the GPU is 2degC hotter than the CPU all the time, and the PCI always 6degC ahead of CPU after a long run.
i would just wonder if 7500 has less heat generated and it would make me feel better.
please advise... :cry:

Why don't I trade with you? I have a 2374-K5U with Radeon 9600 64MB... my fan is off all the time.

The more I think about it though, the more I want to keep it. :D

If the fan noise and the heat is bothering you that much, then do the change i think you already are inclined to do it.

And if you are not happy with the T42 the sell it and get another T43. Somethimes while one experiments financial sacrifices are part of the whole experiment. :twisted:

It can't be true that the difference between a T43 and a T42 is the Graphic only, as T43 use newer CPU, memory and system chip, etc. The speed of CPUs of some models might be the same, but still T43 performs much better than T42.

I wouldnt go for it. You may also want to check the difference in bus speed too

T42 and T43 are both dothan based. However, T42 are using Intel 915 mainboard and T43 are using 945 mainboard, that's why T42 only has 400mhz FBS. In other words, even though T42 is dothan based but it couldn't turn to full power because of the mainboard limitation

well did some t43 laptops run the banais chip which would make it only run at 400 mhz bus speed?

Nirvana0001,
T42=855PM chipset
T43=915 chipset
The mainboard is not limiting the CPU because the CPU in the T42 and T43 is nowhere near equal. The T43 has the second gen. Dothan (Sonoma) CPU denoted with "0" e.g. 740, 750, 760 and so on, while the first gen Dothan in the T42 is denoted with "5" - 725, 735, 755 etc. The TDP of the first gen Dothan is 21W while the segond gen. is 27W.

Semaj,
No Banias in t43... it was discontinued after the T41(p) series, and AFAIK had a TDP of 24W.

Gunston,
Take into account that the M7 GPU (Radeon 7500) is an older product and was cutting edge at the time. The heat generation was more or less the same because of the manufacturing process with 0.18 um, while the M10 (9600, 9700, X300, X600) is 0.13um. but the M10 has higher clock speeds. :)

oh......my bad, i mess up the new duo core chip and dothan chip.
but i did a little test with my friend last time, he got T42p 765, we switch both our CPUs and my CPU downgraded to 400mhz
