How To Edit Location Profile In Access Connections?

#1 Post by Leon » Tue Aug 17, 2004 6:53 pm

I tried to edit my location profile (I only have one) in Access Connections, but when I highlight it, the EDIT button is grayed out. How do I edit a profile?

Are you logged on as Administrator if you have more than one user set up?

Yes. I am logged in as administrator. I tried to uninstall Access Connections and reinstall. Everything works fine and I am able to edit the locations. Than I restart and all the options to edit are all "grayed out". Thanks for the quick response!

Take a look at the Access Connections download page HERE.

Depending on the wireless adapter card you have, you need the appropriate drivers. Different versions of Access Connections are only compatible with certain versions of wireless drivers. There is a wireless driver requirement chart on the above page.

Also, some wireless adapters need more than just the wireless adapter driver. For instance, the Intel 2200BG wireless card needs the 2200BG driver and the Intel Pro Set software installed. These should be installed before Access Connections. See the readme files on the above page and on the appropriate wireless driver download page for notes and procedures regarding installation.

You can take a look in: Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, for reported errors. Additionally look for the file C:\WINDOWS\Debug\UserMode\userenv.log. You can view it with Wordpad. This file logs errors during log-off and shutdown (and other things as well). If desired, you can delete it, then reboot and check again for it. If there are errors as described above, the file will be recreated. You can try a registry cleaner which may solve some problems. Norton System Works has Win Doctor which does this. Additionally, you can download UPHClean from microsoft.com to help resolve log-off and shutdown problems.

I tried everything that you guys suggested. (i.e. software installer and even reflashed the computer) to no avail. I must be doing something wrong for what it's worth it's a t40 with a 2100 3b mini pci adapter. Thanks again for the suggestions..

open access connections -> click on manage location profiles ( bottom left of the panel)-> select the profile to edit-> select the appropriate tab for what you want to change

if the button is grayed out can you delet it? do you have admin rights?

if nothing else works you may need to remove ac through add/remove programs and then reinstall : http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4ZLNJB
