Anyone own the 2373JXU and 23733UU? What are your thoughts?
Anyone own the 2373JXU and 23733UU? What are your thoughts?
Hey, I'm in the furious stage of choosing the right laptop for me. I've narrowed it down to the 2373JXU and the 23733UU, and assuming Bill can get the me 20% off, I can hopefully pick them up.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure which one I want. Both of great specs, and since the price is the same, I'm lost.
On one hand the 3UU is smaller and portable, but it has the 14.1 SXGA+
The JXU is larger, but it has a nicer screen, and will easier to read.
My vision isn't the best, so readability could be an issue (I have nowhere to test to see what the 14.1 SXGA+ is really like)
I'm going to university in the fall, and will using it as a desktop replacement, but also as a portable computer to take to class and stuff. I will doing a lot of coding, movie/tv watching, gaming, writing documents, and surfing the net. All I'm really looking for right now are the current specs, so if anyone else has any more input, then please help:
1.7 GHZ Pentium M
Wireless Capabilities
64mb Radeon 9600
Light and Portable
Good Battery Life
Durability
Cost effective.
Please note: I'm canadian, and IBM canada rips people off, so I need to buy from Bill. I won't be able to get any 2378 or 2379's.
What are your thoughs on the JXU or something else?
Thanks a bunch.

I have also been eying the 3UU from Bill. It is definitely cheaper to buy it through Bill than to buy a similarly configured one from IBM Canada. Basically I have the same needs as you and I think 3UU is a good match. Try playing around with your desktop monitor settings to give you an idea what the screen might be.

Hey guys--I'm Canadian (also bemoaning the IBM Canada offerings), I bought from Bill, and I own the 3UU. I love it! Mind you, my old machine was a Dell Inspiron 8000, so there's a lot to love
Actually, the one thing that swung my decision to the 3UU was the SXGA+ screen; my Dell had it and I love the crisp resolution--XGA just wouldn't cut it any more . . . There are a lot of things you can do if SXGA+ text is too small for your liking, but if you're looking for "light & portable", the 14.1" can hardly be beat. Have fun making your decision--mine took 4 months

>Bill never e-mailed me back. Could you tell me how much you paid for it (can you say how much customs and shipping was too?)

Bill has been busy with other matters. Try e-mailing him again, but this time make sure the word "ThinkPad" is in the subject so that his spam filters won't eat it.
