NEW T42P OWNER NEEDS HELP!!!

#1 Post by skitty4gzus » Mon Aug 28, 2006 8:31 pm

Hi I just received my new beautiful laptop from another user on here named Mr roboto and Im trying to stay connected to the internet, but the wireless radio in access connections keeps turning off and disconnecting me. How do i configure my connection to stay connected since I had to connect through windows wireless setup. I could not get access connections settings right for my wireless connection. ARGH!!! Need help figuring this out. I would like to use AC to connect but i think there is something not set right with the encryption im guessing? Any help would be great, yea it stays connected for about a couple minutes than the radio turns off?????????

I agree that the user interface in IBM Access Connections does not lend itself to easy, quick, intuitive operation. (Much like most of the software that IBM puts out).

I haven't messed with it much, but I think you have to create a new profile for every WAN you want to connect to (wasted time if you use lots of hotspots).

I agree with the waste of time. I tried to make a new profile, but I have to match the settings in AC with the router settings. That is not as easy as it sounds, but I can do that later when i get home, but what if im in the airport or wherever, I have no idea what kind of encryption they are using????? So i tried to use it through windows, but AC keeps shutting off the Wireless Radio. After a few times of that it stays on, but if i go into standby and come back on or restart it losses its settings and I have to do the whole process over again. AHHHHH!!!! totally a waste of time. I never used AC on my T30 partly because AC on that machine never saw any networks available??? I will have to play with this later when I can get on my machine at home.

sorry for no update yet, but stupid SBC Yahoo DSL(their DSL stands for Dilapidated, Slow, and Lousy) crashed on me and I have been waiting on a tech to come "inspect" the outside lines. He was supposed to bring a new modem in the house to make sure this worked before he left. Anyways, I will have to play around with this some more when I get home from work later. Can anybody help me just totally disable AC so windows can configure the connections. Everytime I tell windows to configure the connection in the little network connections screen and I hit OK and everything, after standby or a restart it loses its settings and I have to go back and do it over again. There shouldnt be so much of a conflict with AC and windows, but something needs to give? Any help would be great, thanks in advance!
