Good (but cheap) place to buy IBM T40 9 cell battery?

#1 Post by marko » Tue Aug 29, 2006 8:47 pm

Saw some T40 9-cell batteries on pricegrabber for 80$+. Why are these so cheap compared to otherones at around 150?

Were these manufactured earlier and thus hold less charge?

Anyone know of a good place to buy these?

Thanks

Marko

Non-OEM batteries avoid the huge IBM/Lenovo markup. The better ones are built with top-quality Japanese cells.

Good non-OEM ThinkPad battery source: CBK USA (with which I have no connection)

I purchased mine on ebay for less than US$50 including 2-day delivery. Brand new, Sanyo cells, 2006 manufacture date.

When you pay US$150, you are contributing to the "New BMWs for Starving CEOs" charity fund.

PS That CBK store doesn't seem to have 9-cell Thinkpad batteries at the moment.

eBay seller Taoyi sells 6-cell and 9-cell IBM batteries for excellent prices.

I picked up a 9-cell from him for ~ $55 in January (i think he charges $60 now), it was brand new, genuine IBM, 0 cycle count. Has been working perfectly since. Just now i bought another battery, a 6-cell for $46 shipped USPS Priorty.

Looks like he's out of the 9-cells at the moment, but i've been keeping an eye on his auctions and the 9-cells seem to be for sale all the time, the 6-cell's not so frequently.

I've heard Sony, Dell, & Apple were having a fire-sale on LiONs earlier this week...
