Why can't I access my own WLAN ??

Argh this is driving me nuts.

I had a 54g network running, which only allowed the MAC address of my T41p to connect.

Today I have friends over and have disabled all security on the router so they can connect also (couldn't get any of the encryption methods to work). They can connect just fine, but now my thinkpad won't. It just tries for a while, and then it turns off the wireless !?!?!? I haven't even asked for it to turn it off. It does not give me any error message.

What's wrong?

Is there a chance in the MAC section of the router that you changed your MAC from Enabled to Disabled? Make certain you removed all the MAC addresses from the router table. ... JD Hurst

... or maybe the encryption thing, you disabled it in your router but your thinkpad is still configured to access your network with encryption ?

Turn off MAC address filtering. It's too easily spoofed to be of any real value, and tends to cause unnecessary grief like this.

When troublshooting WLAN problems, start by turning off all security. When the WLAN works, turn on just WPA (or WPA2) with a strong passphrase -- nothing else (e.g., WEP of any strength, SSID hiding, MAC address filtering) really matters.
