Want to listen to only my external speakers.

#1 Post by rvs053063 » Wed Aug 30, 2006 10:50 pm

How do I get my T42 to stop playing on its internal speakers when I plug nice external speakers into my mini-dock? Right now the tinny sound undermines the money I put into my external speakers.

Thanks,
Rick

Just reduce the volume all the way down, but don't press the sound off button.

I am using a minidock and it works pretty well.

Another alternative could be to make a dummy plug .. take an old pair of headphones and cut the plug end off. Inserting that into the audio jack will kill the built in speakers but leave the ones going through the dock running.

I'm running my T41p on my jack. Yamaha reviever here, with like 120 watt, it sounds beautiful.

Thanks. Turning down the volume on the laptop did the trick.

Now, if only I could do something about cell phone and blackberry interference with my speakers . . .

Move the cell phone and Blackberry farther away from the computer. The interference you are hearing is the low frequency oscillators running the transmitter and receiver. I hear my cell phone occassionally when I am talking on it and have it near the computer. A little separation ususally solves the problem.
