Intel 2915 ABG compatibility with T40

#1 Post by sktn77a » Sun Sep 03, 2006 2:42 pm

I'm sure this has been posted previously but I couldn't find anything on the search :?

Does the Intel 2915 abg card work in a T40/T41? The current listing includes only the T42 and T43:

http://www-131.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 8425098764

And there was a retraction from earlier in the year correcting the compatibility to reflect this.

But it appears that people are getting it to work just fine on this board and are still recommending it, after the atheros cards.

It will indeed work in a T40 and is a better choice than any of the the Atheros based cards.

Cheers,

Bill

The 2915ABG has never shipped as original equipment in a T40/41 models.

IMO Levono is just basically saying that since they never shipped it as OEM kit in those models, they are not interested in doing the full regresssion test that is normally required prior to putting something into full support for a particular model.

It doesn't mean it won't work satisfactorily, but it does mean that they are not obligated to replace one under warranty if it was found to create a problem in a T40/41.

This is a fairly common sort of thing that manufacturers do across the whole industry.

Cheers,

Bill

So will it work with T40/p or not?
Is there anyone who use it on T40/p.
I want to buy it and I'm not sure is it a god decision

thanks a lot

I'm using the generic (non ibm) intel 2915 abg card in my T40. It works great :)

I first tried an Atheros 5005GS based Gigabyte wlan card, but that one had serious problems to get an IP address from my AP (netgear wgr614 v4). So I cant recommend atheros :)

So, presumably, you did the 1802 BIOS hack to get it to work?
