Great deal?...Education discount...

#1 Post by nsuperman86 » Thu Aug 19, 2004 7:41 pm

I can get the following specs. through an educational discount from my school:

$1979
2373-3VU

Processor: Pentium M 1.7 GHz
Display: 14" SXGA+
Hard Drive: 80 GB
Memory: 512 MB
Ethernet: Integrated 10/100/1000 Ethernet
Wireless: Centrino b/g
Video graphics: 64MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600
Optical Drive: DVD-RW
Warranty: 3Yr-Depot
OS Preload: Windows XP Pro

The only catch is that there are no refunds after purchase. I have never bought from IBM, so I don't know how reliable all their computers are. Even if I can't get a refund on this system is it worth the risk? I am thinking it is, but I just wanted some opinions. Thanks

Sounds like Cal's back to school deal. That's a great price, and IBM laptops are generally considered to have some of the best build quality on the PC side.

Is it just your school that's offering that? It looks good.

UPenn had the 3VU for 1899, but you needed to pay 50$ shipping.

I think that was the 2374-3vu for $1907, but it was through Penn's book/computer store and not IBM. Also, that had the 3-year on-site + accidental protection program included. By far one of the best deals I've seen. This Berkeley one comes close though.
