HD Ultrabay / 2user T40

#1 Post by dave111 » Wed Sep 06, 2006 11:24 am

Wife & I share a t40. want to keep everything separate.
Currently using 2 win xp accounts.

Was thinking about purchasing a 2nd Hard Drive UltraBay Slim.
IBM FPU: 62P4553

that I could put a new HD in and keep all my stuff on that.

Q1) Can I boot from this device - would install windows on it.
Q2) What Hard Drive would you recommend to put in here - I have a spare 40gb Seagate but its runs at 4200.
Q2) Is there a simpler alternative?

Thanks.

Take a look at the following thread.

I have read that if you have XP installed twice on one computer, you need to have a different license for each copy.

On my T42, my original hard drive was a Fujitsu MHT2040AH. For my second hard drive, I bought a Fujitsu MHV2040AH from newegg, or someplace like that. I wanted both hard drives to be as similar as possible for cloning purposes but I did not want to pay a premium for buying from IBM/Lenovo.
