T42 Audio gripe

so I did a fresh install and now when i press the buttons to make the volume go up and down it doesn't show on the monitor the bars of how much min and max volume are. i've downloaded and installed soundmax from lenovo. how do i make it so i could see it like i used to.

Check thinkpad configuration, display and on screen display is there. Check the Driver matrix for your model and download the hotkey drivers.

You should download and install the On Screen Display, the soundmax audio driver is a package independently of the on screen feature on ThinkPads

Here's the driver matrix page, note the hotkey driver, i've owned a t42 for a couple of years now and have had this problem before, there is no download for on screen display that I have ever seen.

Reading through that page, it appears that is for t2x and earlier though.
