t41p 1.7GHz processor upgradable to 2.0GHz?
hi all,
i am on the verge of acquiring a t41p and plan on upgrading the processor to 2GHz and maxing out the memory to 2GB, the reason is i want to keep this laptop for another 2yrs.
is the upgrade for the processor possible?
i'd appreciate all your replies that i can get.
thanks

CPU's not that much of a crucial upgrade though...the word around here if you read threads on CPU upgrades is such an upgrade as 300mHz wouldn't give you as much of a performance increase as going to 2GB RAM. The laptop will easily give you 2-3 years of quality service if you keep the same CPU in it.

The best upgrade would be to get a 7200rpm 100GB HD and an extra 1GB stick for total of 1.5GB.
Depending on your needs, CPU upgrade may not be as noticeable for normal use.
I believe the the fastest CPU you can put is Dothan 2.13GHz.
Also, if you do a CPU upgrade by yourself it may void your warranty, so make sure to find that out. A HD upgrade will not affect yor warranty status.

Wrong the 2.13ghz cpu run at 533fsb maybe you are trying to say 2.10ghz that one compatible with the T41p because it has 400fsb.daeojkim wrote:The best upgrade would be to get a 7200rpm 100GB HD and an extra 1GB stick for total of 1.5GB.
