#1 Post by stapol » Sat Aug 21, 2004 4:54 pm

My old laptop got shiny in wrist area after i used it for a couple of months and it looked really ugly. I don't want similar thing happened in my new laptop t42p. I find this website ( http://www.wristrug.com/wrforla.html ) but i don't like the pattern.
Does anyone know how to protect wrist area in laptop ? Does anyone get another website or products that can protect wrist area ?

Thx U

This old laptop didn't happen to be a Dell, did it? My friend is on his 3rd palmrest now (good thing Dell keeps sending him new ones for free because of the CompleteCare warranty). This is absolutely not an issue on the ThinkPad - my wrist area looks as new as it did when I first got it last year.

I've had my T40 since May 2003, and the palmrest surface looks exactly the same as it did when I got it.

Another option is the Laptop GellyFish...

I'm anxiously awaiting my first ThinkPad (at the moment it's being held in Louisville, KY by the FDA, with 71 siblings).

I had this worn out, shiny spot problem with my previous compy, an HP Pavilion notebook. I was looking at the Laptop GellyFish to cover the shiny spots.

It's good to hear that this probably won't be a problem with the ThinkPad. Just another reason to be psyched about my new machine!

I also have my T40p for more than a year. The palm rest looks fine. But the keyboard is a little worn out, especially the space bar.

I remember when my company had some old 770s, the palm rests were the rubber coated material like the lid and would wear out after about 4 years of use....The ABS plastic seems fine to me.
