T42 - no LED lights along the bar above the keyboard
Hi gang - first post.
My 2379-DXU had a cracked screen, which I had replaced. However, now the LED strip won't light up - disk drive light, NumLock, CapsLock, power, etc. The only LED that's lighting is the wireless icon.
These LEDs appear to be part of the inverter card, so I bought a replacement inverter card and installed it, but no joy.
Any ideas?

The leds on my t42p doesn't light up (the ones that you see when you close the lid). Mine has Battery, Power & BT. Any suggestions?

did you upgrade the LCD or just change to another of the same. Maybe all the cables aren't connected properly. I haven't removed a T4x series LCD in a while so i forgot what it entails but if you upgraded the LCD i know you should at least need a different LCD cable (XGA to SXGA+)

That's the strange part. It wasn't an upgrade or a downgrade. The screen works fine, but the LED lights aren't on.
I removed part 92P6761, and replaced it with part 92P6680.
Part Number: 92P6680
Description: LCD PANEL, 15" SXGA+
Part Number: 92P6761
Description: LCD PANEL, 15.0" SXGA+
The strange part is that they don't appear to be sub parts of each other, even though they're both 15" SXGA+. Both are used in this model as well (2373).
I guess I need to see if I can get another LCD shipped to me.

Hello everyone!! I registered for this forum just so I could post a reply to this problem as it had frustrated me for a while as well.
I ran into the same problem when I replaced the panel on my T42. It turned out to be some pins that were pushed in on the LCD connector on the motherboard. How do I know? I tried the newly repaired lid on a second T42 and all of the indicators worked without a problem. Additionally, the indicators on the lid of the second t42 did not work on the first T42. I chalked it up to rough handling when attaching the ribbon cable to the motherboard.
The fix? I used a very, very fine needle to pry the pins back out and that resolved the issue. (This took a good half hour...and several needle pricks)
