You should be able to use any of the 2.5" laptop drives - as long as it is the standard 9.5mm form factor (which they all should be).
X21 (upgrade: 384MB ram 60GB 7200rpm)
T42 2378-DXU (upgrade: 1.5GB ram 60GB 7200rpm)
Z60m 2531-MTU (upgrade: 2GB ram)

Thanks Humpa, thank you so much...

I hope it won't be much of a task to replace my 40GB OEM drive with this one. I'm a newbie when it comes to computers and customizing...

The physical replacing of the hdd is very easy.
Installing windows and all the ibm drivers is another story.
You will probably want to use the recovery cd's to do that for you. You will be able to find info here on using the recovery cd's - I dont have any links to threads handy, but there are lots of them.
... if you dont have the recovery cd's, you can make them or call ibm and ask for them.

No - it seems Bill sold all he had while I was out of the country (!!) so I've gotta wait - patience NOT something I'm good at ! Glad you got yours ([censored]) I've used a couple for my T21 - it's just SO handy to be able to simply unplug the unit at work and replug when you arrive home - everything just works. Great invention.
