Green LED next to video connector?

What is the purpose of this LED?

That just means that something is connected in the media bay.
I've read other threads where people wanted to turn that off - I don't recall any other response than to "put a piece of black tape over it" (which is not very good advice, IMHO :) )

It shows that the optical drive is in communication with the system. You're not supposed to remove the drive when the light is on.
