T41p bluetooth mouse issue

#1 Post by T41Puser » Mon Sep 18, 2006 11:56 am

I have a T41p 2373-xtx

The notebook has worked great over the last couple of years. I recently purchased the Dock II and a vp930b LCD. I use a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth and the matching keyboard. Both work fine, with one exception. The keyboard has a 40'+ range (I tested it.)

I have the Dock II on a credenza behind my desk, it is about 4.5 - 5' from my bluetooth mouse. There is clear line of sight between the mouse and Dock II.

The problem is this:

When my thinkpad is sitting in the Dock II with the screen closed, the mouse tracking is very bad, virtually unusable. If the mouse is moved a little, the on screen movement is delayed and might jump across the screen. If I raise the thinkpad screen about 4" to all the way open, the mouse works perfectly.

I know the bluetooth antenna is installed on the left side of the screen. (On a different T41, I recently followed the instructions from this board and added the bluetooth card and antenna)

My question is:

Does anyone have any suggestions for improving my mouse's bluetooth range? Is there anything that I can do to the thinkpad antenna? Would an updated bluetooth daughter card have more power?

Thank You for any advice.

(I have uninstalled the bluetooth drivers and reinstalled them a few times, with no help. This was before I realized all I had to do to improve the mouse performance was raise the screen. I originally thought it was a driver issue.)
