Problem of CD-R/DVD Drive

Hi,

I recently noticed, it took rather long time (2-5 mins) for CD-R/DVD drive to detecte my disk. When I inserted the disk and then open the Windows Explorer, it just hanging there. I can only browse the CD drive after 2-5 mins, it was really annoying. I remebered during the first 2 weeks of use, there was no such problem. And now, it cannot recognize the disk lable also, it always shows the previous disk's label.

Some information:
* I did install the VMWare some day before, and during the installation it prompts to wherther to turn off the auto play for CD rom drive and I chose to turn off.
* I tried to access my CD drive under linux (debian), however, I can easily and quickly (1-2 sec delay only, i think it is normal) mount the CD rom without any problem.

Anybody encountered this problem before? Is it hardware problem of my CD-R/DVD drive or my OS (XP) problem?

Can access both DVD and CD media in the drive under LINUX in 1-2 seconds? If so, then it's not the hardware. DVD drives usually take several seconds (but not minutes) to identify the type of media in the drive (unlike CD/CDRW drives which are pretty much instantaneous).
