Are T40s and T41s preferred over T42s?

T4x series specific matters only

Really? You can really just REPLACE a processor in T40 (Banias based) into Dothan just like that?
Any special requirements? Should I do anything else? it's only the CPU chip. correct?

By the way, have you felt any difference in performance? Moreover, how about the heat?

I could be wrong as my mind/memory is a little rusty on this but I don't think there are any real issues between Banias and Dothan P-m, I think the main changes were a bump in L2 cache from 1 to 2MB?

(It was a long time ago I last refreshed my mind on this stuff) The only issue I could foresee would be Banias->Sonoma, which was the revision before Yonah/Core Duo, and that I am sure wouldn't work.

However, I can't see why a Banias can't be replaced just like that for a Dothan.

Apart from games and 3D rendering, I think the main speed bottleneck these days with computers is the bod sat in front of it :)

That said, I do still use Word 5 on a PowerPC 133 religiously for all of my writing tasks...

Yes...just like that :) Difference in perfomance is hardly noticeable when surfing in internet, but when opening autocad then the dothan is little bit faster. But what i am very suprised about is the battery.....it lasts longer  (remaining 51% and shows 2:00h.....full capacity 34)
