Toshiba 80G a noise maker?

#1 Post by thinkweird » Sat Sep 30, 2006 8:49 am

My Toshiba 80G makes a lot of noise that even outbeats the fan noise.

One option for me is to ask for a replace of the hard drive of another brand.

My questions are:

does your Toshiba 80G make a lot of noise?
what hard drive for thinkpad t43 is quiet?
• 2006 Once the irascible owner of T43P --Returned
• 2007 Overheating HP dv2000t | C2duo 7200 |Nvidia 7200|1.5GB|80 GB|14.1" Brightview|1.3MP webcam
• 2012 X220 All good except for the sticky keys. Keyboard replaced
• Considering a T530 or X230T now

I have had two MK8026GAX. I have used them in my X32 and T42. (Now I have put bigger hard drives.) They were very quiet. I mean I did not notice any noise. Maybe, your drive is simply starting to fail?

I have a 60gb 4200rpm toshiba hard drive and when it's working you can just hear it grind. Sometimes it makes me think the head is going to snap off lol.
