I have a 128mb Kingston brand "DataTraveler USB Flash memory drive" and have been very pleased with it.
I haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but according to the manual, I can create a public partition and a password-protected private partition and also make the device bootable (haven't tried this yet, either)
Unless there's any advantage that the IBM memory key offers over another brand of usb drive such as this one, in the interest of saving money I'll pass on purchasing one.
Thank you for your help
Any big advantage IBM Memory Key vs diff brands usb drives ?
Re: Any big advantage IBM Memory Key vs diff brands usb driv
No advantage. Basically all of them are the same. Check out this thread about how to make it bootable.

Thank you both for your help. That link you provided, G-Man, has a lot of great information.
That would be a nice convenience. Most of the time when I am using my Kingston brand usb drive with a desktop computer (such as at a library), it isn't possible for the Kingston usb drive to fit into the usb port on the desktop computer unless I use the 6inch usb cable that was included with the usb drive.
I didn't know about that difference with the IBM memkey. There is one difference - the IBM memkeys have a sort of beveled edge around the USB plug that lets them fit in the side USB port on Thinkpad X20 series. Many other USB memkeys that I've tried don't fit that port because it is recessed, so you have to use the rear port.
