Taking out T42 CDRW to reduce travel weight, using "bla

#1 Post by aristotle1 » Tue Aug 24, 2004 11:46 am

In my old R32 I took out the CDRW, which I never used, and replaced it with a near-zero weight plastic insert that came in a X31 port replicator that fit perfectly into the ultrabay slot. It reduced the weight by about a half a pound and took some weight off my shoulder. I want to do the same for my new T42, but I can't seem to find any "blank" plastic inserts for the ultrabay slim. Any ideas? Thanks!

You can get them - search this site - the links are here. Cost about $20, though :(

i bought a blank attachment for the T20 from them - no difficulties and it's a good fit.

Thanks everybody for the advice. It looks like a good product on their site. But $26.50 (with shipping) for a piece of planstic seems mighty steep. I'd rather put the money toward the ultrabay battery or something. But I might take the plunge. -Sean
