HELP !!!!!!!!! T-42 Case Crack..about to fall apart..!!!!!

Hello,

I have an IBM T-42 with the bottom case cracked near the IR port, and the wireless card slot. I was living with this crack for some time, but things are getting out of hand. A portion of the bottom case near the IR port is dangerously close to breaking off.

I have the basic IBM EZ-SERV warranty..will they replace the bottom case/send me a new bottom case as part of the warranty coverage ? Will this be counted as misuse ?

I believe it will, but call anyway explain the situation. In the worst case you will only have to pay for the parts.

Whether or not a case is counted as misuse depends not only on the type of part broken or damaged, but how it could have gotten that way. Cracking near the IR port as you describe isn't a common problem on the T4X Series of Thinkpads and there is a significant chance that they will label it as "misuse" unless you can give a plausible explanantion for how the crack came about during normal usage.
