Lsass.exe System Error The endpoint format is invalid
Have a T43 WXP Pro SP2 fully up to date and a T41 XP Pro ditto also a Dell Tower. All sit on a home wifi networkk all working. In the space of 24 hours all went down with this system error. Initial thoughts virus, no. Done several full reinstalls form original discs, loaded sophos and AVG and scanned hard drive and external hard dives before reloading data and apps. Every time I've done it (four from scratch) I die (the error comes back) within 24 to 48 hrs seems related to the nmber of reboots carried out. SItuation so bad replaced Dell tower with mac mini to keep family happy and online. I have made the registry change suggested on the microsoft website but that doesn't seem to have made any difference. Am at my wits end as to what to do, anyone been in a similar place and know how to help me out..............
That error only applies to Windows Server 2000 and 2003 (QB893712) and not to XP. That suggests your systems have been compromised with something (although all at once and after some reinstalls does seem unlikely). I have your kind of machinery (minus the Dell) running very well, so no, I have not been in your shoes on this one. I don't know. ... JD Hurst
One user reported that he got this problem when he installed new incompatible memory. Another user said that setting the paging file size back to automatic control solved his problem. Still another user changed the Windows login password and corrected disk errors with checkdisk. Another suggested the Sasser worm was the culprit.
I would suggest the following:
1. Remove any extra RAM you may have installed, and see what happens.
2. Run checkdisk on the hard drive.
3. Set page file size to automatic if it isn't already.
4. Download and run a hard disk diagnostic utility from the hard disk manufacturer. I know Hitachi and Fujitsu have these.
5. Check for virus' and spyware from Safe Mode.
