Does netstumbler work with ibm's a/b/g card? (on t42)

Along this same line, what are some other wireless programs that work well with the IBM a/b/g card. I am yet to load Linux on this machine because I haven't had the time, but I have tried a couple of sniffing programs with no luck. To be clear, I am talking about programs like snort.

TIA

On windows, i just use netstumbler, which works flawlessly. Ethereal doesn't seem to be able to put the card into monitor mode, so it's kinda useless.

Under linux, I use the madwifi drivers. They support just about everything (except ad-hoc). They allow you to put the card into master mode, so it acts like an AP, which IMO is better than ad-hoc anyway. Kismet and ethereal work fine with the card in monitor mode. Airsnort also works if you set monitor mode manually, then use the generic drivers.
