How to remove ultrabay drive on t42p

#1 Post by skitty4gzus » Tue Oct 10, 2006 7:52 pm

Does anybody know any tricks to get the ultrabay drive loose on my t42p? I cant get the first slider to release the tab? Its almost stuck or something. Like there is another step first or something? I have wiggled it around pushed in and pulled and all sorts of arrangements to get it to release the pull tab, but no dice? Any help would be great, does this happen alot or what?????????

Did you check for a small screw holding the drive still? It's not really needed, but usually there is a small screw by the pull switch, that keeps the drive solid.

no, that lil slider wont even budge. I know it sounds stupid since its pretty much a no brainer to remove the drive. But this is just not releasing?

you will never guess what happened when i pulled that screw out!!!! The slider moves and the tab popped out!!! The drive comes out freely probably like its supposed to. I think I should probably start reading the HMM when I get a moment. Could have saved a headache filled night last night! Thanks alot again guys you were on it like usual!

Thanks and thanks to Mr Roboto. I got a sweet deal. I pretty much regret ever ever buying the T30 honestly. Im sure its a good machine for somebody, just not me. This thing is light, fast, quiet, extremely awesome battery life for a 6-cell. It will be astonishing with the 9-cell and ultrabay batt!!!!!! USB 2.0. When I look back at some of my questions on here I really feel like they diminish my intelligence. Im really not that dull so please bear with me. Thanks for all the awesome quick help. I cant even begin to think how much time and money you guys save guys like me. I mean these questions would take hours on the phone with IBM or costly dollars probably but not with you guys help. I appreciate it very much. God Bless all of you that help!
