T41p and Dock II and Adaptec 2940

#1 Post by kpw » Wed Oct 11, 2006 7:48 am

Hello there,

has anyone tried to use a Adaptec 2940 SCSI Adapter in the PCI Slot of the Dock II ?

After installing the card, the system doesn't boot. It shows always a message that a expansion rom is not initialized......

Any suggestions ?

many regards,
kpw

This is just a guess, but do you possibly have the Macintosh version of the 2940?

They were basically the same card, just different ROM chips. A Mac card can be flashed to be a PC card, but you cannot flash a PC card to be a Mac card.

No, it's a pc version and it works very well in a desktop system.

I have tried a different card, same result.......

it looks like that it's not possible to use such a card in the docking station, or i'm missing some jumper or bios settings ?

many regards

Just a wild guess. Could it be that the ThinkPad thinks there should be a bootable drive connected to the SCSI device? How about taking a look at the devices listed in the BIOS under Boot Order. Also check the Startup items listed. Try Disabling Startup from Network, if that mode is enabled.
