I just received a T43 that is getting the infamous "fan error" at startup and shuts down. I have the keyboard and palm rest off and have verified that the fan still works. It spins up and keeps spinning untill the system shuts itself down. I have cleaned it with compressed air and reseated the fan power connection. Any ideas? Does it give a fan error if the fan isn't up to a certain speed?
Oh, and I did search, but didn't see any other fan error threads that still had a working fan.
Fan error, fan still works
Sorry, when I said received I meant from a user I support. We have a few hundred Thinkpads (T40, 41, 42, 43, some T4xP models, as well as some X41s and some R series). And personally I really like them. Good solid feel, very professional look, and they seem very durable. Not to mention they make my job supporting all of these (me and one other person for a few hundred...) pretty easy with the magic blue button.
