T43 stops booting at IBM Access menu

T43 stops booting at IBM Access menu.

When the notebook is running on battery, it seems to wait for input during boot up. As soon as I hit the enter key or space bar it continues to load.

When the notebook is using the power adapter, it boots fine.

I am wondering if anyone has run into this or has suggestions.

So far I have checked :
BIOS - power options ( restored defaults / enabled/disabled individual settings with out settings )
Mainboard has been replaced twice ( by IBM )
