choice between t42p and r51p

#1 Post by stefano » Thu Aug 26, 2004 12:37 pm

I'm going to make my company buy me my first tp, after some dell, and I'm stuck between the two models in subject. (italian version are UC2KYIT and TJ227IT
I had to use it at work, for cad and graphics, so the ATI fire gl 2 is the video card, and the uxga 1600X1200 is the display, there is no doubt on this parts.
But:
T42's are lighter and thinner, at the cost of a different wi-fi system (intel b instead of ibm b/g), and if i should take the pentium 2.00Ghz, there is no dvd writer, just the usual combo.
R51's are thicker and heavier, but they seems to have a better wi-fi system (I use it, but i could find a pcmcia adapter).

Are there other issues to take note of in the choice? (apart from budget, but that is a different problem...)

Thanks for any comment or answer, and forgive any error I could have made.

I have owned them both but prefer the case and "feel " of the T42p. I can not compare performance as the T42p has a faster processor. The T42p is faster.
