Random Freezes/Shutdowns on T42p

#1 Post by Schwaby » Fri Oct 20, 2006 12:51 am

Hey Guys,

About a week and a half or so ago I unfortunately spilled a small amount of bottled water onto my T42p. I did manage to take it apart, dry it out and get it working again.

However, in those first couple days after the spill the laptop would sometimes freeze (usually when logging into windows) in conjunction with the light indicators for Wireless and Bluetooth going off. (The other lights would remain on). I would then have to just hold the power button to turn off and reboot the computer.

Also, at other times, the computer would just randomly shut itself totally off, with all the indicator lights being killed at the same time. After these shutdowns, the computer would not charge nor turn on with battery power unless the battery was removed and then replaced. (And sometimes this wouldn't help and I would have to just wait for a while)

These problems went away after a couple days, but now seem to have returned with a vengeance and the computer now freezes and randomly shuts down rather frequently.

Does anyone have a diagnosis for this problem, and is it fixable?

Thanks

Maybe some water damaged something on your motherboard.

Try not using it for 2 days (let's say) and then power it on.
Are you still under warranty?

Yes, it is under warranty for about 2 more years.

I also failed to mention that I've had intermittent problems with trying to connect to my wireless network (as in the network is there but my computer fails to find it)
