Wirelesss network problem

#1 Post by ibmt40 » Fri Oct 20, 2006 10:54 am

Hi,

Suddenly I decided to format my T40 and now i got wireless connection problems.

For one thing the windows wireless network indicator in the sys-tray shows no connection, but the connection works :)

Next, every 10-15 minutes it looses connection and the only way I can restore the connection is to either reboot or log off my windows account.

The Intel PRO/WIRELESS indicator shows that there is a connection. Maybe that is the problem, that the two connection handlers are battling about the connection?

It worked perfectly before formatting system, can anyone give me som working guidelines for setting up my wireless connection. I have a wireless router with internet connection on it i should connect to.

Any updates i have missed?

Specs:
Windows XP SP2 + all updates
Updated bios+ embedded program
Symantec Antivirus 10
MSN 8 live

Hi, used to own a T40, upgraded to T43 and now finally to X60. I did format my T40 before and experienced the same problem you had. It sounds like the same problem with most people here, that their network settings were 'corrupted'.

Besides downloading and upgradeing your T40 to all the latest drivers for Access connections, Ethernet and Wirelss PCI, you also need to repair the corrupted setting.

The setting is an open source program and hence many other programs uses it, so to be accurate, the LATEST must be loaded by window XP when it first boot, or it could be using the older versions from other software.

I posted the solution in this forum here. Give it a test and see if it solve your problem.
