Delivery date... Should I complain?
Delivery date... Should I complain?
I'm a new user on this forum... as of about a week ago, and I just bought my first IBM. After reading all the good things about it on this forum, I knew I had to get one. The problem is the delivery of the thing.
When I bought it it was listed at "within 2 weeks." That was on 8/11... over 2 weeks ago. Today they changed my est. ship date from 9/3 (3 weeks from the order) to 9/27 (7 weeks from the order date). I'm not convinced that my 2379DXU is worth waiting 7 WEEKS for after paying top dollar. Am I wrong in thinking this?
Should I call IBM to complain? How far do you think I will get with them?
Thanks! I really look forward to my new thinkpad... I'm very impatient for this thing....

Re: Delivery date... Should I complain?
Those dates are always incorrect. Don't worry, it will be shipped on time, probably even earlier. Have you ordered it directly from IBM or trough your school, company etc?

Re: Delivery date... Should I complain?
I understand not wanting to wait. BUT, I have found in the past, that IBM delivers faster than when they predicted most of the time.
I HATE to wait when I purchase. One of the reasons I purchased from Bill Morrow is that if he has it in stock, you can get the next day and SAVE money.

Benjo,
I have ordered the same system (2379DXU) on 8/13. What confuses me is that there are two shipping dates on the status page.
1) One called “Est. shipping date” and is right next to the machine name. This one is: 9/10
2) Then there is a line under that saying: “Status: Your order is scheduled to ship by 09/22/2004”.
This is confusing! Let’s hope that #1 above is the actual shipping date.

Thanks for the reassurance... just as you all suggested, they cannot be trusted with their delivery dates. Today it changed back to 9/7. Can't wait...
And I ordered it direct through IBM's website. Next time someone wants a thinkpad, I'll send 'em to www.thinkpads.com instead.
