Any differences between T40 and T41

#1 Post by ttan98 » Tue Oct 24, 2006 11:57 pm

after quickly looking at the IBM Tawbook on T40 and T41, I could not find any major differences between the two.

Can any one out there tell me and significant differences? i believe both support the same type of CPU. I am thinking of upgrading the cpu from current CPU of 1.4G to say 2.0G...

help.. thanks in advance...

Indeed there is not very much difference. One thing that comes in my mind: T40's don't have the harddisk airbag.

Generally the 2 main differences are that the T41 has the hard drive active protection system whilst the T40 doesn't, and the T41 RAM runs at PC2700 speed whilst the T40 only runs at PC2100. Both come stock with a Banias Pentium M CPU, however you can upgrade to a 2.1GHz Dothan CPU with 2MB cache and 400MHz FSB.

BTW, if your T40/T41 is still completely stock, upgrade the hard drive and RAM before you go to the CPU. The general consensus is that these are the 2 upgrades you should make first :)
