Our machines are set up with folder redirection for the Desktop and My Documents. On the laptops, Windows Offline Files syncs these folders and caches them for offline use. Now, this particular machine generates an error during the login sync:
Pressing Cancel, cancels the sync. Pressing OK allows the sync to continue, but everything on the desktop disappears. Manual syncs and the logoff sync don't cause any problems. A manual sync will sometimes even get everything on the desktop to display again. Occasionally, a 2nd sync will start on it's own 15-30 seconds after the initial login sync, but I can't find anything in the event logs to indicate an interruption in connectivity that would initiate the 2nd sync.Close Open Files
Reconnecting to the network causes a synchronization to occur. In order to begin synchronization, all of your files and folder must be closed.
Please close all of your files and folders, then press OK. Any remaining open files will be forcibly closed by Windows.
The only thing I can find anywhere is links to Microsoft KB328293 which details the same problem, but it was fixed in 2002. I can't find anything more recent than that. I've checked to make sure the machine has the correct version of cscui.dll and mobsync.dll, and they are correct. I've tried unregistering both, and re-registering them again, but that didn't help. I've tried plugging in in different locations to insure it wasn't a connectivity problem, no difference. I've tried disabling Offline Files, purging the caches, and re-enabling Offline Files.
This is a T42 with Windows XP SP2, fully patched. It now has all of the latest IBM/Lenovo patches, software, and firmware.
Has anyone experienced this before? Even if you haven't, any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm out of ideas.
Thanks,
Scott
