Dual monitors AND notebook display on a T42 with dock?

#1 Post by fancieryu » Thu Oct 26, 2006 10:30 am

Hi,

I have a T42 with Ati 9600 graphics card and SVGA+ display. Recently I got a minidock. I'd like to hook up both DVI and SVGA ports to two monitors and use the notebook display as well, so that I will have THREE displays. It seems that the graphics driver only allow me using at most two displays simultaneously. Is using all these three possible?

As far as I know, this is not possible. You can either have DVI and laptop display, or SVGA+ and laptop display.

all combinations of two are possible.

In fact, all combinations of two different displays are possible. I have tried DVI and SVGA, DVI and laptop display, SVGA and laptop display successfully. I just hope to get all three of them in use so I will have a huge screen

For what it's worth, I can't get all three to work. This on either the T4x or T6x series with Port Replicator II and/or Advanced Mini Dock. It would be great though! Seems like there should be plenty of power, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work.

Look into Matrox DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go.

You see this solution recommeded a lot on this forum but has anyone actually tried it? Seems to me that this is a far cry from having a dual-display on the graphics card itself. I suspect it is slow and won't give you real dual-desktop functionality but a sort of simulation. Anyone actually tried it?
