Installing Security Software on Re-Imaged T40

#1 Post by atct86 » Thu Oct 26, 2006 10:34 am

I had to get a New HD for my T40. I used the re-image Cd's to rebuild by computer. I did this initially, and then did all the IBM updates. When i went to install the secuity software it said i need to restart. So i did, and I was never able to boot up again. It just frooze.

So i re-imaged again, and the exact same thing happened.

So i re-imaged again and did not install teh security software. Now for the past month its been working fine, but i want to be able to use the security software.

Has anyone experiencec anything like this? BTW, my security chip is on from the bios.

you have not mentioned what version of the security software you used.

i have used the client security software together with the security chip, and i have used 3 versions already. i'm planning to use the latest available. so far i have not experienced what you described.

i suggest you change to a different version. examine also the readme file that goes with the software. there may be some limitations listed or mentioned.

I am downloading the latest version from Lenovo's download program.

Should I have the security chip enabled, or disabled in the BIOS before installing?

you don't need to activate the chip before installing the software. during the installation sequence, the software will notify you that it needs to re-boot or restart.

when the laptop restarts, you will find that the security chip has been activated.

I got the software to install. And the thing popped up asking me to enable to chip, which I did.

However when i restart i keep getting asked if i want to enable it or not. It seems like it is having problems coming online.

Does anyone have any ideas?
