Random beeps, but system works fine

#1 Post by Troels » Fri Oct 27, 2006 12:03 pm

Hello,

With my T42, (2379-dxu) i mostly have onboard audio turned all the way down, but i recently had to use it. At very random intervals (maybe 10 mins apart) a random beep is just played back (around 800 Hz) with a duration of ½ sec approx.

Now i actually just heard the same short beep followed by beep-beep-beep in 3/4 sec length, lower pitched (500 Hz), followed by the initial ½ sec higher pitched beep.

I'm using it with a Dock II and a tv-tuner pci card... I'm also using the original Hitachi 7K60 drive... does anyone know why this happens?

By the way, I also use fancontrol, but nothing overheats. The systems works perfectly besides this random beep.

Haha.. just made a test with the fancontrol utility... everytime the fan speed changes, a beep is emitted.... The three short beeps must have ment "Smart: Set fan control to 0x00, Result: COULD NOT SET FAN STATE!!!"

Just ignore this thread :D
