Battery Problem

#1 Post by corleone » Mon Oct 30, 2006 2:17 pm

Dear Friends,

I have a T42 2379 DXU. I bought it in 2003. I think im still under warranty (3 year service plan)

My problem is this: After a full charge... I unplug the AC/Adapter and my power IMMEDIATELY drops from 100% to 87%. And it runs all the way down w/i 45 minutes.

I "reconditioned" the battery once about 2 weeks ago, but I did not see results.

Does anyone know what I can do about this... should i buy a new battery? If so, what is the best one to buy (best meaning, the longest life).

Thanks for help everyone...

Sounds like one of the cells has gone bad. You could try to talk IBM service into a new one.

Does this indicate a problem with my computer or is it most likely just a problem with the battery.

I can live with buying a new battery, i just wanted to check and see if the problem was an indication of something wrong with the computer itself...

Also- Plugged in 100%, unplugged drops to 87%, plug bac in immediately.. take about 12-15 mins to get back to 100% (stays at 99% for a long time)

The battery is only under warranty for 1 year (eventhough i have a 3 year EZ serve).

What does a new, high end battery run these days? What is the top of the line and where is a good place to buy it?

Thanks all!

Of course it has meet it's time for replacement, the battery has three years.

Look for a new one and see the difference in hours usage time.
