Thinkvantage drivers and software

Hi,

I have a T43 and I have been pretty good with running the "Software Installer" application to update drivers and software fairly often. Now, there are a couple of folders on my hd that are getting pretty big, DRIVERS and IBMTOOLS.

Does anyone know if it's safe to delete these folders? Or does the Software Installer use these folders to check what the latest drivers installed are?

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums.

You can clear out everything in the DRIVERS directory except for the two text files as Software Install uses those to see what it downloaded and installed before.

I wouldn't touch the IBMTOOLS directory though as that has some pretty important files that really should be there.

Does this apply to my T42 also? I only see one text file in the DRIVERS folder and its a readme.

There are 25 other folders with names like AUDIO, BMMPN, MONITOR, TP4EX.

Am I looking at the correct folder to delete?

It applies to all Thinkpads that are supported by the Software Installer; which includes the T42 as well.
