monitor recommendation for t40
monitor recommendation for t40
Hi,
I have a t40 and would like to purchase a 20" or so flat panel monitor. Would any monitor work or are there specific monitors I should look for and/or stay away from. I'm looking for something that will run great looking dvd movies, look great while digitally editing pics, etc.
I'm looking for something that will be essentially plug and watch.
Thanks.
Frank

I bought a IBM ThinkVision L200p Monitor (20.1-inch viewable image area
Native resolution: 1600 x 1200) from Bill (great service) and it works great. Except it has one dead pixel (not very visible!) Did not return it because I'm not in US and the cost of transportation would have been too much.
Also the price of it has dropped by $300 since I bought it. Send e-mail to Bill see what he can do for you.

I use my IBM ThinkVision L200p as a second monitor with standard analog 15-pin VGA port because my T41P doesn't do the 1600X1200 on DVI and frankly for my use I do not think there is much difference.
If you decide to buy a second monitor check this software http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/ its great.

I wonder if I could use any of this to get my Apple Cinema Display to run off of my t40p. I've never been able to get it to work. I have a DVI to ADC adapter for the Apple display, and I've plugged it into the DVI port on the Port Replicator of my Thinkpad, but I've never been able to get a flicker out of it. Works great with the Mac, but I use the ThinkPad 99% of the time now. I hate to see that monitor just sit there.

I use Sony SDM-X202 and SDM-X204 20" LCDs at two offices with my T42 (and until last week with my T23). I am happy with both - but I also have a Dell 2001Fp that I have been using for some things that I like better. It is very sharp & bright, takes VGA/DVI/S-video/Composite, and can rorate 90 degrees. The X202 and the Dell have USB hubs as well.
All work great at 1600x1200 VGA (I have not tried DVI yet)
