T43 2687-DUU memory upgrade
T43 2687-DUU memory upgrade
I'm planning to put bigger memory chips (from 512 mb to 1 Gig) in my T43. I've found the "easy access" chip by flipping over the T43 and unscrewing the cover.
I haven't been able to find any documentation where the other chip is located. How do I find the other chip?

Yep, it's under the keyboard. There are four screws on the bottom of the laptop with a keyboard symbol next to them. Unscrew all four, slide the keyboard away from the touchpad/palm rest, and then lift the keyboard, starting with the spacebar end.
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

This is what I needed. Thank you.pianowizard wrote:Yep, it's under the keyboard. There are four screws on the bottom of the laptop with a keyboard symbol next to them. Unscrew all four, slide the keyboard away from the touchpad/palm rest, and then lift the keyboard, starting with the spacebar end.
I had some memory from a local vendor, but ended up with PC2-2700, not PC2-4200. After two further attempts to get the correct memory, I got my money back. I'm off to newegg to get some crucial memory (see I did read some of the threads before posting.)

I'm already at 1 gb. I plan to use this system for another couple years, and want the additional memory. I'm currently moving from the original 60 G hard drive to the 120G Seagate.hkelley wrote:Why not add a 1 gb chip to the 512 you already have...and wind up with 1.5? I just did this with my T43...and it made a substancial difference in performance.

Did you check whether this 120GB Seagate drive will give you the notorious 2010 error? If not, you should find out before buying it.holyfeld wrote:I'm already at 1 gb. That would require knowing that not all SATA drives are created equal. I already have the drive. From what I can tell, the new Seagate ST912082 should be OK.pianowizard wrote:Did you check whether this 120GB Seagate drive will give you the notorious 2010 error?
