Atheros mini-pci card for T42? FRU number? Where to buy?

Just ordered T42 – Certified Used from IBM. The laptop will come with wireless Intel 802.11bg card. I’m not sure if this is a good wireless card, but if I have to replace it with Atheros, what model/FRU part number do I need for ThinkPad T42 – 14” LCD, Pentium M 1.7 GHz?

About Atheros Wi-FI cards, I found a FRU 40Y7026 (Atheros) is available from IBM for $49. But can I use this card for ThinkPad T42?

.....…by the way, this is the Atheros (under the sticker is Atheros chip) wireless card from my ThinkPad G41, after watching the IBM movie for installing wireless card on T42, I noticed that the card on the movie looks exactly like the card on my G41.

My T42 has the intel card and it is OK.
I tried an Atheros card and it was actually worse for me so I switched back.
If you are going to try any linux you should probably stick with the Intel card.

I have both the intel 2200 b/g and the atheros and believe the atheros is best. Of couse i have xp not linux.

What is the FRU/ part number of the Atheros card you use on your T40? Do you need any drivers?

The atheros is installed in my 600X it is exactly this one Atheros

In the T40 i have a 2200B/G card installed.

The Atheros Wi-Fi card that came in my T42P is FPU P/N: 91P7301. I have since installed the intel because I use Linux.

Do you mean 73P4301?

That's the one I upgraded mine from IBM a/b.

Can you confirm the 73P4301 has Atheros chip?

Nope. 91P7301 is labled on the device. This is an a/b/g .

Yup. Used it for a week until I recieved the intel from IBM.
