International service possible for japanese T43?

Hi,

I am happy owner of a T40. It had 3 years guarantee, and when I was in Japan for one year and my usb-ports broke, I could hand it to the IBM service in Japan and they exchanged the motherboard there for free.

So, now a friend from japan wants to buy a notebook. As she will stay soon in England for one year, and maybe also a little longer in Germany, she wants to have a international guarantee and, after that period, the possibility to have the computer repaired around the globe.

The confusion is the following: She called the japanese Lenovo Hotline, and they told her that she will have 1 year intern. guarantee, but after that she has to send it to japan or contact Lenovo in the coutry she is.

That is far away from a clear answer. The confusion is, that Sony for example offers one year guarantee for Products bought in Japan only in Japan! For some money a intern. guarantee can be bought, so she could hand in the device anywhere. But after that year she would have to send it to Japan.
So that means that the intern. guarantee extension is just the cost for sending the device. And the model she was looking at was not available from Sony Europe, for example. This means they dont have the spare parts anywhere but in Japan.

If I enter the model number (2668 for T43), a list with telephone numbers from all over the world appeared.

Question: Does this mean that:
- During one year guarantee she can hand in the computer in all listed countrys and it will be repaired there (important, as sending to Japan and back would take helluva long time...)
- After that she can get the computer repaired (has to pay, shure) in any country listed (Maybe except for keyboard and recovery CD's, as those are localized)?

Because this is THE reason why she would buy Lenovo. Although white computers are much more kawaii (nice) in her opinion.

Sorry for writing so much, but its always the details that matter when it comes to guarantee...
