3 monitor display with T42
3 monitor display with T42
I recently bought a T42. Now, I have a dual monitor setup.
I am wondering if I can have a 3 monitor setup.
If possible, can you tell me the steps please.
Thanks.

You mean two monitors with external card + 1 monitor on pass-thru port from internal chip? I'd like to know, too. Drivers for external card always seem to conflict with drivers for internal graphics chip. Perhaps the only way is with MaxiVista or Maxtor Dualhead, but I think you might find postings on these forums by people who seem to have gotten it to work without conflicts.

It depends on what you're doing. I'm an application release manager and already use a second monitor when I'm at my desk. With three screens, my e-mail, my calendar, my IM, my primary management and reporting application with all its attendent sub-panels, and other assorted apps, docs and spreadsheets that I use all day could be spread out even further. The more I can see at a glance without having to uncover hidden windows, the better as far as I'm concerned.terry_mccann wrote:Don't know the answer, but what on earth does anybody do with three monitors on one notebook, I wonder?
That's at my desk, BTW. When I'm using the notebook alone, I just cope. I still don't want a widescreen because of its size and (for me) its awkwardness.

Nonny,
I am in a very similar situation as you are. If I can spread my work around 3 monitors then I do not have to click to uncover hidden windows. I just began using the 2 monitor setup last week and I have already noticed a great increases in my productivity.
Do you know if it is possible to have a 3 monitor setup without buying a new graphic card?
Thanks!

I have FOUR screens...
Probably not what you're looking for.. but.. Just get another computer!
I have two laptops. Each laptop has an external monitor.
And, yes ONE keyboard for both.
I run a program called SYNERGY that sends the keypresses to the other laptop over ethernet. Copy/paste also works. Its free.
http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/
I cant drag windows between the two computers, but I dont really need to do that.
Both machines have similar software -- I primarily run outlook on the laptop I dont carry around. Web-based apps run there also.
The carry around laptop has the code, etc., where the real work is done. (I can still get to outlook, etc, from the carry-around laptop, but dont use it much there.)
Another BIG PLUS about this is I dont have to bog down the code development machine with outlook.

This is not something that I have done, but I remembered seeing this thread in the T60 Series forum which may be of some help.
