No more T4x batteries from Lenovo?
Lenovo seems to have dropped the T4x batteries. I.e. None listed here...
Lenovo's catalog of batteries/power-adapters/etc
Any suggestions on a reliable source for 9-cell or 6-cell?
reliable => wont blow up and wont go dead after 2 months.
thanks

You need to look more carefully. The picture at the top is a link to a T40/R50 series battery. Moreover, if you enter your ThinkPad model on the right, you will see a number of battery options available. At least this is true with my T42.
Lenovo has been found to be somewhat sloppy with their website at times. They probably just accidently omitted the link for the T40 batteries available in the list below the picture.

Clicking on the picture will reveal, most of the time, a dead link
It is always best to enter the part number and then go from there for your particular Thinkpad.

After reading Mr. Wolf's post above, I tried a couple of links and came up dry (no, I didn't try them all, because my connection is quite slow at the moment).
I suspect the problem with the T4x series batteries is the current recall. There probably aren't any extra ones available right now through Lenovo. I recently saw a new T43 advertised on Lenovo's site, so I am pretty sure they aren't discontinuing the batteries yet.
Try entering your battery part number in www.pricegrabber.com and see what comes up. Verify with the seller that you won't be getting a recalled battery, and that the battery is new. I have delt with www.mwave.com in the past, and I believe they carry ThinkPad batteries. Zipzoomfly and newegg are generally good sources for things. It is a good idea to check the vendor's rating before making a purchase. Pricegrabber lists vendor ratings.

Same problem here; I have tried several links including even the part number of several batteries...no go.
Probably the recall as, even under the part category for the T40/R50 batteries, they only display the charger.

Oh.. yeah.. I've been to that link. Get's ya to the oops page. You need to look more carefully. The picture at the top is a link to a T40/R50 series battery.
I've also tried the "put in your model number" approach. It does find the listing of optional batteries... but links from those battery entries go to a dead page.
Note that the some batteries are listed -- the newer T60's and the older T20s, plus the ultrabays.
I agree with other posters; my guess its the recall. All the bombers got pulled.
So.. back to my original post... Are all Lenovo batteries out there at this time a lottery? E.g. if I buy lenovo branded in the retail channel (and I've found some) will they be on the recall list?
Who's selling good batteries?
