Can't obtain 1600 x 1200 video resolution using DVI

#1 Post by bted » Mon Nov 13, 2006 7:58 am

I have a Thinkpad T42 (2378EVU) with ATI Radeon 7500 video and a ViewSonic VP2000s LCD display connected using a MiniDock. I am trying to connect the display with a DVI cable but I cannot obtain resolutioni above 1400 x 1050. I've tried updating the video driver and running all of the Thinkpad update utilities, but nothing seems to work.

1600 x 1200 is no problem with a VGA cable. Of course, I'd really rather use DVI if I can make this work.

Any ideas? I've seen a couple of similar threads on this board but nothing definitive.

I'd sure appreciate any advice the group can offer.

Give the Omega Drivers a try. I'm using them and can do 1600x1200 just find through the DVI on my minidock.

A note of caution: the Omega drivers continuously bluescreened my X31 as soon as it booted up (had to reboot in safe mode to uninstall). They certainly haven't had the same level of QA as the standard drivers. So proceed with caution ...

Omega drivers are working like a charm! Thanks for the advice and the link. I installed the Omega's and everything is bright and sharp!

One word of caution. The most current release of the Omega drivers will not work with my Radeon 7500. I had to download an old version that I found in the archives. Please check your version numbers carefully before installing these drivers.

Thanks for all the help. Great group!
