Using DVI port on Mini Dock

#1 Post by PaulB » Tue Aug 31, 2004 5:57 pm

I am thinking of buying a large flat screen monitor to use when my TP is docked, and was thinking of using the Mini Dock's DVI connector to avoid digital/analog/digital conversions.

Here is what the IBM web page says about the Mini Dock's DVI port:
DVI pass-through port ( will support resolutions up to 1280x1024 based on attached system).
My TP is a T42 with the ATI 9600 64Mb graphics, and supports higher resolutions than 1280x1024 for the external monitor (using the VGA connector). It just seems odd that the DVI connector would have such a limitation...

Anybody with a Mini Dock use the DVI connector at higher resolutions?

1600x1200 via DVI works great. Just use the ATI Catalyst Driver from www.ati.com but you have to first modify it using Patje's Mobility Modder. Or try DNA or Omega Drivers (especially if your Thinkpad's LCD is 1400x1050).
